Title: Are Your Ancestors in the Cloud? Using the Internet for Genealogical Research Session 3
Location: Continuing Education and Conference Center, U of M, St. Paul Campus, 1890 Buford Ave St Paul, MN
Description: The internet has made genealogical research easier, faster, and more widely available. However, in order to make the internet a useful tool, you must know what kind of information it holds and how to find it. This course will introduce you to the most effective ways to use the internet for accurate and useful genealogical research.
There is a vast amount of genealogically related material available on the Internet. However, it is not always easy to find, capture and use. Additionally, the Internet is a great tool for communicating with other family historians if you know how. Through lecture, discussion and demonstration, you will learn how to effectively search the Internet for people and records, what are the key genealogical websites and how to use them to best advantage, how to capture and organize what you find, how to use the Internet as a learning tool, and how to find others with common interests. Participants also may want to visit www.FamilySearch.org and www.Ancestry.com in advance of the course.
